Abstract

"There are at present many old settlers living who have been in the country since the organization of the territory. From these pioneers many interesting facts of early history of the state are now to be had. Under their direction and advise articles of historical interest might be gathered together under the control of the state for the future generations. But these pioneers are passing away and the time must be improved. The zeal and activity manifested by the historical societies and libraries in the eastern and surrounding states is resulting in disappearance of many articles and manuscripts of value bearing upon history of this very interesting section."
