Abstract

"Thousands of acres were entered at the Walla Walla land office, but shortly afterwards it was reported that the Oneida community which was largely interested in the project, had placed their business affairs in the hands of a receiver. This was supposed to have terminated the ditch enterprise. But too much money had been invested in lands large tracts of which were bought from the Northern Pacific, to permit the scheme to lie dormant and recently all arrangements were perfected for going ahead with the work."
