Abstract
"The county commissioners let a contract to Shaw & Flint last week to bury the paupers, accepting the bid of the firm of 1 cent for each funeral. E. L. Sessions bid $2.64 for the work. Shaw & Flint agreed to furnish what is known as a good 'China' coffin lined with muslin with handles and to give the paupers a decent and respectable burial for the penny."
