Abstract

"Affiant further deposes and says that in addition to the Indian village located at Rock Creek, as above described, there were other Indian villages and fishing paces as follows: 1-Wah-pykt, sometimes known as Wishram. The Indian meaning for Wah-pykt was 'water falls' and it was located on the Washington side of the Columbia River. 2-There was another village below Wah-pykt known as Skein which was also located on Washington side of the river. Its name meant 'cradle board,' and it was so named because the camping grounds of the people who lived there were in the shape of the cradle board used by the Indians."
