Abstract
"Fort Simcoe was turned over to the Indian department by the war department as I understand an officer stationed at the Fort was in charge of the Indians up to the time Bancroft took the agency. Bancroft was dismissed and then Father Wilbur was appointed as the second agent in 1866 and served for 16 years."
