Abstract

"At the West Miakiah cemetery they buried just before noon, those men who had been hung. One of the men who had been hund hollowed after they buried him and some Indian happened to be going by. He thought it was an evil spirit and told the Indians but no one went there for several days. Then they found that a man had risen part way up out of the ground. His mouth was full of dirt and he had managed to tear some of the things off himself, but he was dead then. So after that they quit burying there and now they wait three days after death."
