Abstract
"Some time in July or August last the entire potato crops of four of the chiefs of the Sklallum tribe of Indians were destroyed by the cattle of the settlers on Whitby's Island. The Indians had for a long time been in the habit of planting potatoes on Whitby's Island and like Indians, never enclosed the crops."
