Abstract
"The decision has been about 95% made for us to start a major mechanical conversion come May. I'm holding off a lot of newsroom changes until that's accomplished - do it once instead of twice. Meanwhile the daily miracle become more + more of one, with the prayer that worn out equipment will kindly hold itself together without repair until we convert to an offset press and cold type composition. We used to have a coil of baling wire labeled 'Spare Parts' but we've used it all up and aren't replacing until the conversion is achieved."
