Abstract:
"Council Proceedings. Routine Business Transacted--City to Aid Public Library. Rev. H. M. Bartlett then addressed the council in behalf of the public library and reading room. He stated, in effect, that the burden of supporting the library by private subscriptions from business men had become to onerous to longer be borne, and asked the council to appropriate monthly the sum of $25 for the purpose of paying rent. On motion of Wyman, the council agreed on behalf of the city, to assume the payment of the rental for the library."
