Abstract

"To Abolish Yakima Agency. The national house of representatives has passed the bill abolishing the position of agent on the Yakima reservation and the measure now goes to the senate for action. As the abolishment of the agency has been recommended by the commissioner of Indian affairs, it is thought that the bill will go through. Congressman Jones is said to have opposed the proposition in the house and it is believed that Senator Foster will fight it bitterly in the senate. Some of those who are in a position to know, say that there is no good reason why the agency should not be abolished. The Indians now have their allotments and are as a rule able to look out for themselves."
