Abstract
"President William McKinley Dead! Bulletins received here early Friday morning as to the change for the worse in the condition of the president came as another shock to the community, as every one had been led to believe by the bulletins issued by his physicians to the belief that the crisis had been passed and danger of fatal results reduced to a minimum. At about 3 a. m. Friday morning an alarming condition of heart action lead the surgeons to issue notice to the country that while there was no instant danger, the worst fears might be realized. A telegram received at 3:15 last afternoon brought the melancholy news that death ensued at Buffalo at 5:45 p. m., eastern time."
