"Some of the ultra republican papers have been sharply criticising the Oregonian for censuring President McKinley for bringing along his invalid wife upon the long and tedious journey across the continent, resulting in the discontinuance of the tour and disappointing thousands of people, who, in all probability, never saw a president and will not be likely to have another opportunity to do so."
