Relander worked for many years as a City Editor for the Yakima Herald-Republic, which was owned and operated by the Republic Publishing Company. He also worked for newspapers in California, before moving to Yakima.

Cecil Clark and his partner, E. C. Price, in the Yakima valley, Washington, are harvesting a crop of commercial sage to compare with the 1943 production, when they grossed $7,000 from a single acre. This year and last they planted 25 acres to sage on the Roza Division of the Yakima Reclamation project, producing in 1943, 94,000 pounds of their favorite seasoning.
