Written by someone representing the district, rather than the military. "Both the Army and the Navy liked Benton County. Namely, the Navy wanted the Horse Heaven for the bombing and gunnery range and the Army wanted the White Bluffs, Hanford, Richland area for a war plant location, the latter to take approximately 300,000 acres, 40% of which was to be outright purchase, and the remainder under lease."
