Abstract

History behind Fort Na-chess, with a mind to getting a suitable marker "placed on Highway No. 410 where the old trail crossed the river at Basket Fort." Described as "a field work of earth and gabions," the fort was constructed in 1856, one year after the Yakima Indian Treaty, by Col. Wright as a place for his men to stay before Fort Simcoe was built.
