Abstract

Reprinted from an issue of Logger & Lumberman West, this article speaks negatively of the spread of government purchase of land. "One out of every three acres of land in the United States is already owned by the federal government." Another focus of the article, and the one spoken about the most, is the fact that, despite redwood trees being cut down for lumber, there is no reason to fear the trees going away forever, since the "old forests have been replaced by vigorous young trees which are growing rapidly."
