Abstract
Produced by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the cookbook has this introduction: "well-nourished bodies are largely dependent on healthful eating. It is sometimes difficult to plan meals which are nourishing and at the same time have the variety which quickens the appetite. This book has been prepared to help the housewife in her everlasting question, 'What shall I have for dinner tonight?'" Along with useful suggestions on food safety, there are the usual recipes, but there are also sections on "Invalid Cookery," with albumen beverages and peptonized milk, and "Lunch Box," with menus for industrial workers and school children.
