Abstract

Relander thanks M. M. Tozier, with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, for a letter from him and enclosed letter from The Secretary to Oliver LaFarge then goes on to discuss the misconception in the letter. He also discusses the causes of the unsettled situation on the Yakima Reservation. He clarifies his and his newspaper's position in the situation by saying, "A newspaper does not make news. It reports the news that is made by others. The present Bureau is no more responsible for the failures of the Bureau of other years, than you or I."
